Hello Disciples! As the amount of trail in our area expands, the need to have focused approach toward trail work has become apparent. The DOD board is adding five positions to help better achieve the necessary trail maintenance. Please come to our public board meeting (next one is 7/14 at 6:30pm at Wetlands Bar) to express your interest.
We are adding five “Zone Leader” positions to our current board. These Positions will report to the Trail Work Coordinator to help facilitate the necessary trail maintenance for our local riding. Each “Zone Leader” will be responsible for one of the five major riding zones in our region.
These zones are:
1. Thurston Hills
2. North Shore trail
3. Whypass
4. South Eugene (Currently Pipedream/Baby Steps, but will be an increasing need as Arlie
Park is developed)
5. Hardesty Portal (Goodman Creek, S. WIllamette, Eagle’s Rest, etc. Shared stewardship with
OTA)
Expectations for these positions would be:
1. Ride your zone regularly
2. Note any trail work issues or needs in your zone
3. Communicate these needs to the Trail work Coordinator
4. Help facilitate trail work days, especially pointing out areas that need specific work
5. Attend the majority of DOD Board of Directors meetings
These positions are brand new and will certainly evolve over time. They will not be voting positions initially, but if this concept is successful, then that may change.
