DOD Board Meeting Minutes
Wetlands Brewpub and Sports Grill, 922 Garfield St Eugene
Sept 8, 2025
Commenced 6:31pm
1. Public Forum:
Jack: Thurston is all good to go for new trail. Planning once a month trail build days. Designated as a black but mostly dark blue – easier than Chinquapin Chutes. Willamalane also looking at an ADA/beginner loops in lower grassy area. I'm not doing the trail construction for ADA/beginner
trail but helping with ideas. Starting maybe second Saturday in November and after, weather dependent. Trail ends at juncture of Mossy Maple and rock road. No trail name determined yet.
Diamond View (Oakridge) update – got more dirt, Brock donated money for machine rental. Eastern Oakridge trail system is still in planning stages, but likely to take a lot of USFS resources
once it starts.
Adam Steffen: OMBC hasn't met in the last month or two. Arlie is back on schedule after fire delays.
2. Position reports:
A. Chair (Sean Fitzpatrick):
• Going to talk to Kevin Rowell soon to talk about trail maintenance at the Westfir corridor and OTA. Also park walk with Ben H and CoE on Sept 22nd. CoE has approached Eugene Parks Foundation to try and finish the trail system in one phase. Trail zone leaders: Jae Thurston:
Danny Roche North Shore, Chantal/James is Whypass, Livin Adkins for Hardesty, Max M. for S. Eugene zone. I also have secondaries for the zones as well – more eyes on site, volunteers for work. Lane Co Fair was a bust but we didn't pay for it. Better places to promote the club
like Banff FF or block parties, etc.
• Mike is stepping down as trail work coordinator. He said he'd hold the position until we find someone else.
• Do we want to join NWTA? (General consensus was that we would likely have more to gain by not joining NWTA).
B. Vice Chair (Austin Larson): Carpenter's Bypass projects got approved. Stump connector, SST extension (parallel with road end at Hit Parade). A walk is occurring tomorrow with BLM land rep. Also we need to re-route Hit Parade climb trail. I asked for $100k for skills park for WP
area just south of the pit toilet area/parking lot. Also picnic tables and making parking lot bigger. $30k for Y2K touch-up. Poison Oak/Blackberries need to be cleared out at Dam trail. MRT – we should be doing a McKenzie/King Castle log-out thing in spring 2026. McKenzie
Trail Volunteeers (MTV) does that area. We should also send DOD members to help out at Bandon/Newport trails. Larison Creek/Rock – I'd love to put a race there – XC / enduro. North Fork is getting burned right now. Hit Parade climb trail re-route to start in January –
estimated 3 work days to complete.
C. Treasurer (Chantal Angot): Moving forward, we will now be able to differentiate between income sources, such as dues and separate donations. So far this year, we're $7k+ income-
positive. Also developed the member spreadsheet.
D. Secretary (Jeff Green): Should we consider: Do we want to drop-ship system for merch instead of paying $$$ for stock? Should we draft code of conduct, as per attorney recommendation (yes). Film Festival? - Freehub is an option, so is hand-crafting a Youtube show. Jeff to contact OLCC on selling alcohol, and will contact law firm on code of conduct
example so we can customize one. Finally, Jeff to look into film festival options – Freehub vs our own Youtube.
E. Trail Work (Mike Sheppard): Not present.
F. PR/Marketing (Ben Hansen): I got an email list from Chantal. I'm trying to automate a reply that shows a thank-you email but we have three recurring payment systems but it's complicated.
G. Rides/Events (Brian Peas): Crescent Lake Happy Ride Sept 20th. Ben has campsite reserved Friday night and Sat. night. Kid's ride Oct 11th at WP. Social night at Oakshire: Wednesday –
let's go with Oct 1st. Barbie Camp coming up later in October.
