OD Board Meeting Minutes

Wetlands Brewpub and Sports Grill, 922 Garfield St Eugene

March 10, 2025

Commenced 6:36 pm

1. Public Forum:

Travis & Todd: Here to promote an idea of a pump track at Washington Jefferson park. It's in the idea stage right now, talked to Whiteaker Community Council, CoE.

Shawn, Nina, Lori, Derrick (OTA): No federal summer crew, one federal trails guy in Oakridge now for over 500 miles of trail. We had grant money for Cloverpatch extension and another part of the grant for Cloverpatch extention and FuGrass (Waldo to Oakridge) tie. OTA is also operating on another small grant – for deferred maintenance on trails. Looking at more pubic donations now that grant money has stopped.  Carrie, Alex: OTA also plans on a social mixer and fundraiser,

Jack H, Eric Adams (Willamalane): The budget issues are going to be long-term – maybe 6-8 years. IMBA is collecting information about the issues the budget is causing trail users nationwide.

Geoff H: I've made contact with a local e-saw rep, and could maybe put on a demo and maybe could tie in with a saw class (occurring this weekend). Derrick: E-saws could be allowed in areas gasolinechainsaws are not due to the lower noise emissions.

Jack H: Black diamond trail getting pushed out now with Frasier no longer being with Willamalane. Willamalane wants to priortize the beginner/ADA lower trail. Money won't be needed for that project for another year. I can GPS flag the black line and the Acer short-cut line for Willamalane. Plugging away on Baby Steps –going to get a day on the calendar – it was brushed and is ready. Hopefully an update soon on the work day. Trail cams are installed now at Ridgeline – trying catch the perpetrator.

Diamond View skills park is ongoing – running the project through my company. Likely do a volunteer call-out for skills park work. Eric Adams: We need to flag the line, look at the needed features, what we're committing to for the community. Could potentially start building this season. We're mostly missing an ADA/beginner trail in our Willamalane trail system. We'd fund beginner trail with RTP grants and with the black line – matching funds. Still need to discuss trail

maintenance/responsibilities.

2. Position reports:

A. Chair (Sean): Doing chainsaw cert. this weekend. Healed up and back to riding. Tom Lyons reached out looking for people to sponsor Diamond View skills park.

B. Vice Chair (Austin Larson): Tom Lyons owes us a video edit. We lost some land manager.

North Shore happy ride was a success. Trail from picnic area – around 1000 feet, of trail that is derelict. Once we establish a contact with US ACE we could bring it back. Murry Hill could be a good spot to put a trail in. New trail possibility (Deathball) – Blue River – Quartz Creek –near Thor's Hammer. ADA/new mtb trail for that area. Weyerhauser is interested in allowing a commercial recreational lease for Whypass area to DOD.

C. Treasurer (Chantal): We have over $30k in bank as of last month. I did 990 form (short form since we have an income of <50k).

D. Secretary (Jeff Green): Will work on a

E. Trail Work (Mike Sheppard): Lost our BLM rep. in the recent round of federal employee

layoffs. We reached out to the recreational guy with US Army Corps – I sent a copy of our

BLM agreement to him. He said he'd give it to his boss, and give it to us. He recently said

things aren't looking good and might not be there very long now. Scotch broom is an issue at

WP – especially Y2K, Tree Hugger, and throughout the complex. Lollipop could also use work. I went to Team Dirt's work day – there was a discussion about a shared Willamette Valley trail alliance – maybe a shared paid person. Sean: I'm going to sit down with him and discuss the proposal. Still waiting on my friend regarding chainsaw work.

F. PR/Marketing (Ben Hansen): Instagram and Facebook are still there. Mail Chimp mailings

going well I think. I spent time on GoFundMe – looking to start targeted fundraising. Also

targeted messaging – membership drive, maybe a sponsored raffle for membership.

G. Rides/Events (Brian Peas): March 1st Happy Ride was a success – 30+ people. Barbie Camp in late April. We'll schedule another happy ride in May – maybe near the beginning.
