DOD Board Meeting Minutes
Wetlands Brewpub and Sports Grill, 922 Garfield St Eugene
Dec. 8, 2025
Commenced 6:38 pm

1. Public Forum:

a) Dennis SY: Here to raise awareness for the need for more coaches with Eugene Composite. Twice weekly practices, five statewide races, and two adventure rides like Alpine or Dead Mountain. Levels 1, 2, and 3 training, online training and background check. Cost is around $93. It's expected coaches attend about 20% of the 43 events per year.

b) Jack Hill, John, Travis (Whiteaker pump track promoters): Architect drawing is complete for proposed pump track/mtb track system for Wash/Jefferson Street park project between the railroad and 5th St. Taking questions about the design/project. Eugene Parks Foundation is interested in helping, we're hoping DOD could be a fundraising conduit for us. Ben Hansen: If we get over $50k then we have to fill out a different type of tax return. We're up to about 50 dump truck loads of dirt at the Oakridge jump track. Pipe Dream work day was a success.

c) Max: Pipe Dream's work day took care of a lot of drainage issues. We're going out there again in the spring so it runs great in the summer.

d) Chantal: Lucy wants to do a work day at WP on MLK weekend - Jan 18th.

2. Position reports:

A. Chair (Sean Fitzpatrick): Met with BRMBA and Team Dirt reps - Aaron wants Dirt WORMS to happen. Told him we're not wanting to make big decisions yet on joining a bigger org. Floated the idea of combined trail build days - Alsea, Black Rock, Thurston etc. They're getting a lot of new people at their work days, and discussed the need for trail work education. Maybe we could take the first 45 minutes of the trail day and do some education. Pokey wants a flyer for ACM so he can start the process of getting sponsors. I'd like to move the meetings to 6pm. I'd like to get some Hardesty portal work done - Eagle/Goodman. I'll reach out to USFS. Shawn reached out to me about Alesong being interested in hosting a film festival. Brian Peais: Arable Brewing has also offered to host a film festival for DOD.

B. Vice Chair (Austin Larson): I can't do the Tuesday ride due to being ill. My SST extension plan require a workforce to cut a line. I propose we use the NICA workers to cut the trail. Let's bring back Lawlerpalooza.

C. Treasurer (Chantal Angot): Lucy said she could get more people to volunteer for our ACM event. I think we're good on the ACM permit - although we don't have it yet. Christie Nichols/BLM reached out about their 5 year plan - they want to do a NEPA review. They're meeting on Dec. 17th. I asked about the grant for the bike park. It sounds like they're looking for ideas for new trails. Jack Hill: Peter and I have already mapped out plans for WP expansions - I'll share that. Currently, we have over $25k. We had an equipment purchase, which was a significant expense. We had over $2k from our ask on Giving Tuesday. Our membership brings in over $6k per year. I want to do an inventory of the tools so we know what we own. Jeff from BWOL mentioned bringing demo e-mtb to ACM. I told him to let me know right away because I have to do

D. Secretary (Jeff Green): Purchased two Stihl trimmers and one Stihl blower at Jerry's. Holiday Lights Ride is coming up. I still need artwork for our DOD apparel site. Jeff to reach out to Kim McGovern on creating an ACM poster.

E. Trail Work (Vacant):

F. PR/Marketing (Ben Hansen): I emailed the developer about allowing trails in this managed forest zone near Black Oak Basin - he emailed back and wants to talk. I asked the City if they wanted the land near Black Oak Basin that could benefit the developer if they sell it. Also hiking/biking trails near the apartments would benefit the value of the development, and they're trying not to build a certain road and a land transfer could help that. I sent a Mailchimp with electronic membership cards. New members could pick up their stem caps at ACM. I'm working with Colin on updating the website. I'm making some new 1-page flyers that is kind of like a pamphlet about DOD.

G. Rides/Events (Brian Peais): ACM planning is coming up. Chantal: We need to get a planning meeting on schedule. Ben's house 6pm Monday the 15th for ACM planning party. ACM Sunday Jan. 25.
