Sawtooth Struggle

Event Date :

Timpanogas Lake Campground

The Disciples of Dirt annual Sawtooth Struggle is a fun weekend of camping, mountain biking, hiking and swimming up in the high Cascade Lakes. We'll have people show up on Friday night to secure a camp site or two at Timpanogas Lake Campground. On Saturday we do the traditional "Struggle"  ... a combination of mountain biking and hiking where we ditch our bikes twice on the ride to bag both Sawtooth and Cowhorn mountains. On Sunday we ride the Windy Lakes Trail past Summit Lake and several other stunning smaller alpine lakes out to Suzanne Lake (a great place for a swim). Timpanogas Lake is also the start of the entire Middle Fork Trail, so there is the option of setting up a shuttle on that epic ride as well.

For those that plan to come up just for the day on Saturday to ride the Struggle, we roll out of camp at 10:00 am, so give yourself a couple of hours for the drive plus time to kit up.

A wonderful article about the ride and experience was done several years ago by Nate Pfeifer.

What to Bring

  • • All of the usual stuff you need for camping and biking.
  • • Lightweight hiking shoes to strap to your pack for the Struggle. Believe us, you’ll be grateful to have these to change into for the hiking sections.
  • • Food to share. Saturday night is a potluck.
  • • Standup paddle board or canoe. For messing around on the water.

Hope to see you there!
